09/12/2003 - Loan Information for First-Time, First-Year Undergraduate Students

Federal regulations require that Case withhold disbursement of the proceeds of the first-half of your Federal Stafford Loan until thirty days after the semester has begun.  Therefore, your Federal Stafford loan will be paid to your student account over the weekend of September 26th -28th, 2003 provided that you have completed all of the requirements for the loan, including the signing of your promissory note and your student loan entrance interview.  Congress believes that a student who is still enrolled in a school after thirty days is more likely to complete the academic program and repay the loan.  Therefore, they enacted this provision into law. We regret the necessity of delaying payment of these funds to your student account.  If you will have a credit balance on your account after the loan is applied, and if you are in need of funds to purchase books or for other critical expenses prior to the disbursement of these loan funds, you may request a Refund Advance/Emergency Loan at the Office of University Financial Aid.

05/02/2003 - Release of CWRUfas

The Office of University Financial Aid released a new web system called CWRUfas (CWRU Financial Access System).  With this service we hope to simplify all aspects of the student Financial Aid process at CWRU, from the initial application, to crediting aid to a student's tuition account, to checking student loan histories after graduation.  For more information on the new system, please see General Information About CWRUfas

03/10/2003 - External Loans Web Site

A new web site was unveiled by the Office of University Financial Aid for it's department, the Office of External Loans. The new site, part of the CWRUfas project, includes many of the features of the Financial Aid Web Site, such as DHTML content, a search page, and an Ask External Loans web form.  Like the other Financial Aid departmental web sites, every effort has been made to organize the information presented in an intuitive and easy-to-understand format.

11/08/2002 - New, Improved Web Site

New web sites were unveiled by the Office of University Financial Aid and it's department, the Office of Student Employment. The new sites, created using Microsoft's .NET framework, include all of the information and functionality of the old FINAID web site, but add many new features, including DHTML content, a search page, and an improved Ask the Counselor form. Every effort has been made to organize the information presented in an intuitive and easy-to-understand format.

07/17/2002 - New Student Loan Finance Initiative at CWRU

The Board of Trustees of Case Western Reserve University recently authorized CWRU to participate in a new student finance initiative with Sallie Mae, Inc.  The initiative will enable CWRU students to receive Federal Stafford Loans and Private Alternative Loans with lower loan fees and/or lower interest rates than traditional lenders have charged.
